A journey that began in 1860
In 1860, James Warren, a young British explorer, travelled from Calcutta to Assam on an elephant. He acquired land and planted the first tea bushes that would grow into the estates we know today. Over the past 150 years, much has changed around the world — but the care and craft behind our tea has stayed remarkably consistent.
Generations of artisans have tended these gardens since, carrying forward knowledge passed down through the estate's long history.
